Lego Ultraman by JLB

In my previous post, i did mention that i'm not going to buy any of JLB issues  anymore because i'm too shocked with their Dragonball series. however, I'm going to make an exception this time. I found ultraman character in lego form!!!!! OMG!!! Soooo cooooolll!!! I'm huge fan of Ultraman, i can still remember how furious my dad was when i overwrite his vhs tape to record my ultraman series. =p

Same like previous issue of One Piece, Naruto, and Dragon Ball, this issue of Ultraman also come in set of 6.

I love how they design the graphic printed at the back of each box. please click the picture to view bigger image. Look on the right side of each box, they put some fact about each of the character.

wow, lucky me. i got 2 ultraman ace head in one box =p

I only interested with the minifgures. each figure come with weapon/accessories. but it's just ridiculous.. why ultraman need weapon when they can just cross their hand to fire the opponent, right..

Update: 

Mr. Mark and Mr. anonymous reader point out in comment below that Ultraman Ace's (most left) fin on the head should be pointing forward not backward. Since it's pointing  backward, he should be Ultraman Mebius or Ultraman Ginga. In my opinion, he's hybrids! Refer pic below. lol

When I heard about china brand going to issue lego ultraman, i assumed they will imitate megablock. I myself not very sure how many set megablock produced for Ultraman theme but when i google "megablock ultraman", these results appear:

From images above, clearly the torso and leg is different than megablock. I'm not very sure about the head because i don't have megablock ultraman  to compare side by side =(. It's retired set and cheapest that i can found on amazon right now is around USD100 without postage O_o

Priced less than a dollar (each), I'm 300% satisfied with the figure. Heck, if each box only contain the head, I'm already more than satisfied. Amazingly, quality of all these Ultraman head is superb and acceptable. As you can see from photos above, most of the head has horn/fin (pointy). Since the head is made from plastic, it's kinda sharp so please alert when allowing kids to play with these.

The torso and leg is bonus to me. since it's from JLB, i don't expect much. Same like previous issue of Dragon ball, Naruto and One Piece, the material (plastic) used by JLB to make the lego body and lego accessories look cheap and feel cheap. but again, the head is superb. so i really don't mind the body =p. 

Again, i would like to highlight these: Please don't expect too much on the quality of torso and leg assembly. The hand and leg joint is worst as usual - so for playability rating, it's probably 2 out of 10. But for pose and photography it's 8 out of 10 (well, since lego don't have ultraman for now (or never)).

My version of ultraman have blue head underneath each mask. I saw Digger318 review and he has these ultraman with red head. So i guess mine is different batch than his. but nothing major, everything else look the same. 

One thing that i agree with him - Ultraman Gaia (2nd guy from right) face look squashed. In this photo below, he's in the middle (4th guy from right) but he has average height and face size with other character. =p. I wonder why he appear squashed in lego form. lol

With the release of Lego ultraman by JLB, i notice a pattern with their previous selection of theme (DragonBall, One Piece, and Naruto). All these 4 are from Anime, Japanese Character. If so, I really hope JLB will consider producing kamen rider AND power rangers figure. please please please.. if any of you guys from JLB read this, please make it happen. Please?

Lego Dragon Ball Z - Decool Versus JLB

Only last week i got my Dragon Ball Z minifigure from JLB LINK. Today i got one set from Decool!

i'm really sure they forgot to finalize design on Krillin box (2nd from left)

It's truly like Raiden and other anonymous reader comment before = it's awesome!

You have all the reason to hate bootleg because they imitate lego 100% on some of the theme (batman, chima) but i think i'm glad and thankful they make this one from Dragonball.

Let's have a look at Krillin, third guy from left. The logo printed on the torso is really accurate to the anime version - can be seen from this picture below. It's Master Roshi's (3rd guy from right) kanji written on patch of Turtle School uniform worn by their students.

But i'm more interested with his size. Decool use the same design and size of short leg by lego. Since Lego don't have Dragonball figure, so let's use The Penguin from Batman Theme:

For all these comparison: The Penguin on the left is original Lego, Krillin in the middle is by Decool and The Penguin on the right is by Sheng Yuan.

From these  two picture below, you can see that Decool still maintain their own "design"for the leg assembly but they have same "X"design inside the torso.

Few pictures below - comparison of the minifigure by Decool versus JLB makes me wanna throw away the one from JLB. Just look at the hairpiece on Vegetta and Goku. 

I know both is from different level of super saiyan but the ugliness of the hairpiece on JLB figure is not acceptable.

The funniest of them all - look at JLB version of Master Roshi's. not only he's at the same height as other character (goku,vegetta) but his moustache actually blocking his eye! lol

Uh uh... now i feel like reading some DBZ manga =p

Lego Naruto, Lego Dragon Ball Z, Lego Transformers

This is fun. I bought these for my kids.

I thought they are Kre-O imitation, but to my suprise they are not. The leg assembly and  the torso is lego shaped. I dont have any Kre-O to compare them side by side - but definitely not Kre-O imitation.

Oh by the way, they are OK brand and come in complete set of 8.

I actually quite impressed with the chrome printing on the torso. They look clean, but the design is plain and boring. But seriously the chrome part is really amazing - very shiny and definitely not sticker. Have a look on Autobot logo on this bumblebee.

err... I assume this is optimus prime? =p

I save the best for last... lol.   Lego Dragonball Z! They are from JLB and come in set of 6.

I'm not sure the name of each figure above but i can name the two figure on the right - Majin Bu and Turtle Hermit. lol. I love the "M" symbol on majin-bu figure and the accessories for Turtle Hermit. 

I find the printing on the torso is not as good as Sheng Yuan or Lele. But the hair piece of 4 figure on the left is very unique. The torso design also is kinda accurate to the comic version. I can tell they are character from Dragonball series from the look of hairpiece and torso design.

This is bonus for me - Lego Naruto! lol! Also from JLB and come in set of 6.

Gaara of the Sand - I love this guy the most. The gourd that he carried on his back is well made for this minifigure size

I'm quite excited to find they have naruto character as well, but the quality of these 6 minifigure by JLB are really unacceptable. The torso design look dull and the face expression -  doesn't resemble Naruto character at all.  Maybe because of limitation to print their face on the standard lego head. The figure will look far more better if they use different head mould just like lego simpsons lol. heck, only if they use different hair piece just like they did with Dragonball character, these Naruto figure will definitely look better.. not all Naruto character here wear conical straw hat all the time. Looks like they JLB do not put too much effort in designing these naruto minifigure. Please avoid buying these figure unless... well, unless you have extra money to throw away.lol
