Shell V-Power LEGO Collection Media Launch on 5 November 2015. #readysetbuild

First of all, i would like to say many thanks to Mr. Tan Chee Kun from Edelman for the invitation to this glorious and memorable event, Shell Malaysia for the goodiebag (^_^)' and last not least to my sweet and beautiful wife for the support during the whole 1 hour event.

was thrilled when I received an email a few days ago inviting me to attend the Media Launch of Shell V-Power LEGO Collection on 5 November 2015 at the Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall.

arrived 30 minutes earlier so i managed to take few photos with less crowd.

About this 1:1 model car:

  • The Ferrari 150 Italia was built at LEGO Productions s.r.o located in Kladno, Czech Republic, by a team of 16 builders working in two shifts
  • The car is made of more than 214,950 LEGO Bricks
  • It took seven months to develop and 810 days to build
  • It was built on a steel frame of which LEGO Bricks were individually assembled and glued together
  • It sports real Pirelli race tyres, race seat belt and a detachable steering wheel, and has space in the cockpit to seat an adult.

Our favourite mascot is also there. A life-sized minifigure!

Here's another one:

Assembled sets on display:

One of the main attraction.. photo booth where you can have a body of lego minifigure haha!

Master of ceremony, Nazrudin Rahman preparing the crowd for the start of the event.

Speech by Tuan Haji Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd.

I would like to thank my wife for this recording. I'm stuck in the middle of the crowd and could do nothing but she managed to capture this 7 minutes' duration video of the whole opening ceremony. I really enjoyed the show and gimmick before they revealed the LEGO model cars. Enjoy~

I will not bore you all with the specifications of the original car (as I know you knew them best, or you can just google them). Therefore, the following is a specification for lego model of the car.

These four model cars are 1:2 scale, meaning they are half-sized replicas of the real cars. They were built at LEGO Productions s.r.o located in Kladno, Czech Republic. All together these 4 model cars took 930 hours to build by a team of 16 builders working in teams of four. Salute to them!

[Every purchase of RM40 Shell V-Power prepaid card/easigo debit card entitle you to one (1) Lego polybag at RM9.90 each.] For the other 5 polybags, you have to get them at the participating Shell outlets throughout Malaysia from 1 November 2015 to 31 January 2016. New models will be released every Sunday and will be available for purchase until 3 January 2016 or while stock last.

already explained about these polybags few days ago here.  Anyway, a little brief about these tiny car models (to compare with 1:2 scale above :D)

40190 Ferrari F138 polybag
  • The F138 is the fifty-ninth Formula One car built by Scuderia Ferrari specifically to take part in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship™, and was driven to two Grand Prix victories by Fernando Alonso in the same year. The name combines the current year and the number of cylinders – the eighth and final year of the competition for the V8 engine.
  • 42 LEGO bricks are used in this model.

40191 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta polybag
  • Debuted in 2012, the F12berlinetta is powered by a 730 BHP naturally aspirated V12 engine, and was Ferrari’s  fastest ever road car.
  • 44 LEGO® bricks are used in this model.

40192 Ferrari 250 GTO polybag
  • The 250 GTO is one of Ferrari’s most legendary GTs ever produced. Debuted in 1962 with only 39 ever made, it is one of the rarest and most sought after of vintage Ferrari models in the world.
  • 42 LEGO bricks are used in this model.

40193 Ferrari 512 S polybag
  • This 5-litre V12 GT racer was produced in 1970 and debuted that year at the 24 Hours of Daytona, before going on to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the World Sportscar Championship through the 1970-71 seasons, scoring 4 overall wins and 2 category wins. Only 25 were ever produced.
  • 49 LEGO bricks are used in this model.

40194 Finish Line & Podium polybag
  • This playset includes a start/finish line, winner’s podium, Scuderia Ferrari Engineer LEGO Minifigure, pit board and chequered flag.
  • 63 LEGO bricks are used in this model.

40195 Shell Station polybag
  • This playset is modeled after the Shell station on Scuderia Ferrari’s Fiorano track in Maranello and comes with a Shell Fuels Scientist LEGO Minifigure.
  • 79 LEGO bricks are used in this model.

40196 Shell Tanker polybag
  • Shell Tankers transport fuel to more than 40,000 service stations worldwide each day.
  • 93 bricks are used in this limited-release model, and it is the only vehicle in the Shell V-Power LEGO Collection that does not feature the pull-back motor.

We are then invited to join Lego building contest at the event. My wife and I participated but we didn't win lol. We were asked to form a team of two and  assemble a 40190 Ferrari F138 polybag. The team who could complete them the fastest will win. Since I did not win, so I did not know what would be the prizes for the winning team. haha..

Bloggers and members of the media were then invited to have lunch at Madam Kwan's after the event. Yummy!

Next destination for this showcase would be held at Gurney Plaza, Penang from 12 to 15 November 2015. Shell will also bring the Shell V-Power LEGO experience to public with a life-sized LEGO replica of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One car to Klang Valley, Ipoh, Melaka and other selected locations nationwide.

One of the best part.. free stuff!

Goodies that we received: 40190 Ferrari F138 polybag and 40195 Shell Station polybag, information of the event (in folder), power bank, box of tissues, and popup paper mat.

It is a very exciting experience to attend event like this. At first, I was a little nervous when I saw a few other well-known blogger in the same event (^_^). Lucky i bring my wife to accompany me lol. I hope I will have another opportunity to attend an event like this in the future.

    2. Hi. Hope this helps. The bootleg manufacturers don't seem to have any websites that work.
You can find some of the Decool products listed here http://blockfigures.wikia.com/wiki/Decool
I think this page is filled by enthusiasts.
Also there's a facebook page about Decool https://www.facebook.com/Decool-1389485491340717/
I'm not sure how official it is.

  7. The NM 149 I dunno much about it.

The other sniper (L96A on the box) ... very popular sniper made by Accuracy International.

The two sets you missed ... the weapons and stuff in there are not new.

  8. Hi stumbled upon your blog from googling on Lego minifig.
Btw I am pretty surprised that Shell Lego just launched in Malaysia last November? We had them in Indonesia since July. My husband did the production for their TVC on this launch then I got all the Shell Lego sets that used for shooting...hahaha lucky me.

    1. Hi there :) thanks for stopping by :)))

Yeah, we just got these ahaha.. better late than never. Most of us bought this set at premium from overseas. As expected, the response has been overwhelming. At some petrol station, people start queuing 2 hours before they are allowed to buy the new release every week.

Wow, you are very lucky to have the complete set for free. *envy*envy* hahaha. :)
