Lego SWAT by Disen

As promised, here's the next SWAT set that i'm going to review:

Pardon the image above, i didn't receive this set with box so i use image that i found on the internet.

Here's how i received them. This is the only SWAT set that the weapon doesn't come in plastic rack. So you don't need to detach them like in other SWAT set.

Weapon/accessories for each minifigures:

The minifigures with fully equipped weapon/accessories:

Have a look at their printing on the torso:

Close up pics of each minifigure:

I think i love this guy the most. looks sooo bad-ass

This vest caught my attention. I love the arm pad:

update@20/01/2015:
Thanks to Bk Brickonstene from comment section below. This arm-pad vest is actually imitation of Modern Brick Warfare.

print-screen from Modern Brick Warfare page

There are two type of gas mask in this set:

Even the baseplate also is unique. The size is about 4 x 4 but with rotating part at the middle.

So you can have the minifigure facing any side with the baseplate arranged in the same line.

Here's all the weapon and accessories you can get from this set:

[update@Jan 26th, 2015] replace picture with updated weapon name:

  2. Oooh ... nice ... too busy at the moment to savor your review right now ... a quick question ... how's the plastic quality? Approaches SY/Decool/LELE level?

This set is good! It looks darn cool!

    1. Hey there buddy. i just look at them again before answering your question. i think you will love it. the plastic is good. the leg firmly attached to the torso, even the tactical belt is in between =)

and no loose part. the hand, the leg. all good. =)

  3. If this set is sold in my area, I'm getting the minifigs for these stuff:

The tactical vest with shoulder protection - Tactical Vest BR1. (Highlight of this series personally)

Belt with an additional holder on the left hip - Tactical Belt G5. (another outstanding item for me)

Handgun with laser sight - SG19t.

And more rifles (UMP 45, M14A, M4T1, M4A1 SB) to add to my collection. Nice.

The baseplate really unique compared to all the baseplates out there, even Lego's own. Can it be used for MOC revolving doors I wonder.

Now I have to wait and see if this set ever reaches my toy shops here in Ipoh. Where did you buy it? Ordered online?

    1. hi there. yeah.. my friend bought extra for me. To save cost, the set dont come with boxes =(. ahaha

im still waiting parts to moc my own armoury room/set. have 4 extra SY305 (following your advice) but still dont have the guts to open it. im afraid i dont have any skill to build my own creation. so far my life is just like Emmet. following order/instructions without fail. ahahaha.

now that you mention it. i'm thinking to get extra of this set too. just for the vest and the baseplate. =))

    1. Hi @Bk Brickonstene. I realllly appreciate your info. I will include it in my post above. I don't know the design is from modern brick warfare.

      Thanks!!!!

    2. As I mentioned before the prices of modernbrickwarfare or brickarms are huge and the quality of the Chinese products is better and better so.So ...I am sorry for them but not anybody is so rich to afford them and on the free market it would be stupid from my side to buy the same product to a bigger price.

  8. Off topic, I apologise. Remember the talk about using thinner/solvent/nail polish to remove paint from Lele's weapon crate?

I tried thinner/solvent on a piece of printed lego plate to be safe. Dabbed some thinner with a cotton ball and rubbed the print off. The paint came of easily but I notice it leave the surface of the plastic really dulled. So I tried rubbing it on a piece of unwanted plastic, the thinner when rubbed hard enough, can damage plastic surface. Delicate texture on plastic surface can be damaged.

So I googled for safer easy-to-find solutions. There are warnings about nail polish not safe to plastic too. But 'brake oil' (not brake cleaner) is recommended and safe for plastic? Anyone tried, can you share your experience?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. this is valuable information. i just tried the same with a piece of SY printed plate. used the nail polisher from my gf and you are right the plastic on the rubbed parts becomes dull. where did you find the information about the "brake oil"?

i have a decool bigfigure with smudges (again) and don't want it to become dull.
i wish decool would improve their quality checks!

      Delete
    2. i did some research and it turns out "methylated spirit" is the best one to clean out those smudges without affecting the plastic. i will try it this afternoon when i find a shop that has it :x

      Delete
    3. I hope methlated spirit works. Please let me know how it turn out.

  9. These are great stuff but I would like to ask, what are the plastic quality of the weapons, vest and other accessories? Are they as good as SY swat?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm just guessing. The weapons quality looks quite good judging from the photo alone. Details on the plastic is well defined.

And thank god, we have a big hi-res photos to see clearly. Keep the photos as hi-res as possible bro, we love it. Unless it's JLB or Dargo or Lago whatever ... then 240px is enough. :D

      Delete
    2. @apodistagon. you are the expert. when you guys ask about the quality of these stuff, i need to go back and "feel" them again as i forgot how they were.

for all the rifle, gun, knife, grenade.. even the gas mask, i have tried to squeeze them. They are hard! I can confirm that the plastic is better than Di Long a.k.a Doll (http://mybrickstore.blogspot.com/2015/01/lego-camouflage-swat-by-di-long-d101.html)

To be honest, my finger already confused which one is better. Is it okay if i want to admit those weapons are better than SY? it's very subjective judgement. i want to recommend this brand but i'm afraid i have a very low standard lol.

anyway, my test area for a gun is around the gun barrel. (so the longer the barrel, the weaker /easier to bend the rifle). the result? SY's plastic for their rifle is softer than Disen's. I actually broke some of my SY rifle to test this. lol. I think i use fair and equal amount of pressure to test those.

      Delete
    3. as for the vest.. they are on par with sheng yuan. same thin plastic. Decool's vest is thicker =)

      Delete
    4. I just have an idea related how to test the weapon plastic.Instead to test the weapon itself it is better to test the molding frame attached to weapon. Like this you will be able to observe the plastic quality without damaging the weapon

      Delete
    5. hi @Bk Brickonstene =). thanks for the idea. thats brilliant actually. i should think of that earlier. ahhaa

    1. Hi there =) If you looking for specific brand, i would recommend Decool and Sheng Yuan. Please stay away from Lele and other brand. that's my personal opinion but i think consistent with all the comments and feedback from others too. You may use ebay to find them but it's quite pricey. (you may try using keyword "decool"). next available option is using aliexpress (http://www.aliexpress.com). I't a great site, imho, just the same with amazon, but full with china made stuff. Try looking for reputable seller from their feedback and their order history. =)
